Motorcycles in movies: 10 of the most famous

Motorcycles have always enjoyed a special place in the seventh art. Action, adventure, chases. Whether you’re a biker, movie buff or both, the stuntman and the staging will make you feel the adrenaline rush without getting up from your seat. Here we present the 10 most famous motorcycles in the movies.

1. Top Gun – Kawasaki GPZ900R

Top Gun (1986) begins, and in that magical moment you imagine yourself being Maverick piloting the Kawasaki GPZ900R at the airport, watching the fighter jets take off to the rhythm of the eighties.

The Kawasaki GPZ900R carried the surname Ninja and was a true missile for the time. Its four-cylinder engine and 115 hp of power made it the first production motorcycle to exceed 240 km / h (150 mph).

You can’t be cooler than the Tom Cruise of that era. We correct, it´s possible: with the future Andromeda vintage edition faux leather jacket.

2. Quantum of Solace – Honda Montesa Cota (modified)

The James Bond franchise has always been at the top when it comes to action scenes. In this 2008 film, Daniel Craig’s character steals a modified Honda Montesa Cota, starring in several high-stakes moments.

This is the same bike that was used in The Bourne Ultimatum a year earlier.

An aside: Don't forget that if you are going to ride the most advanced on two wheels you also need the best gear. In Andromeda we offer you motorcycle clothing with aerospace technology.

We continue with the list of motorbikes...

3. Kill Bill Vol 1 – Kawasaki ZZR 250

Kill Bill, as usual in Quentin Tarantino’s filmography, involves a mixture of genres, in this case the martial arts predominate. As a tribute, Uma Thurman wears a jumpsuit inspired by the one that Bruce Lee wore in The Dragon’s Fury, and to finish off the look she rides a motorcycle of the same color.

It is the Kawasaki ZZ-R250, one of the best racer bikes of the moment, which was painted bright yellow for the occasion.

4. First Blood – Yamaha XT 250

It can be said that the first Rambo movie is the deepest in the saga, showing the trauma many Vietnam War veterans suffered. Despite being a dramatic film, no action scenes were missing, and one of them presents us the character of Sylvester Stallone in the forest escaping from the police on a Yamaha XT 250.

Rambo uses this off-road Yamaha to jump over train tracks, cross muddy grounds, and tackle a downhill slope. And as he is Rambo, he does it with the only protection of a tank top, something Andromeda Moto do not advise you to do in real life. You can choose to wear the most advanced motorcycle suit on the market.

5. Matrix Reloaded – Ducati 996

Matrix Reloaded was released in 2003, four years after the massive success that was the first film. During it, Trinity (character played by Carrie-Anne Moss), stars in a spectacular chase down the highway on a Ducati 996, avoiding cars and trucks.

In 2014, Ducati launched a limited edition of another model, the 998, inspired by the Matrix universe. The 250 units of the Ducati 998 Matrix Reloaded Edition were sold within hours.

6. Terminator 2 – Harley-Davidson Fat Boy

Terminator 2 is one of the most iconic movies in cinema, as it is also the scene in which the T-800 played by Arnold Schwarzenegger enters a biker bar and after a fight with a group of them, says the following sentence : “I need your clothes, your boots, and your motorcycle.” A scene that automatically turned it into one of the most famous motorcycle movies.

It’s about the 1991 Harley Davidson Fat Boy, a motorcycle that he will ride to prevent the fearsome T-1000 from capturing John Connor.

In 2018, the motorcycle used in the film went up for auction for $ 200,000, but ended up selling for $ 520,000.

7. I, Robot

The bike in this futuristic film starring Will Smith is the 2004 MV Agusta F4-SPR 750, a fairly exclusive model, as only 300 units were manufactured.

8. Mission impossible: Fallout – BMW R nineT

Tom Cruise is famous for doing his own action scenes. In this 2018 film, sixth in the franchise, we can see him in action on a BMW R nineT, a classic-style roadster with 110 hp.

9. The wild one – Triumph 6T Thunderbird 650

Classic feature film starring Marlon Brando in 1953. In this film he plays the leader of a motorcycle gang that is causing altercations in a small Californian town.

We can see him on the back of an English Triumph 6T Thunderbird 650 black (the color for the English market was blue) with very careful aesthetic details.

10. Roman Holiday – Vespa 125

We close the blog post “Motorcycles in movies” with the delicious film starring Audrey Hepburn, in which is narrated the escape to Rome of an American princess tired of her diplomatic responsibilities and in which she meets a journalist (Gregory Peck) who pretends not know her.

We can enjoy the most emblematic enclaves of Rome on a Vespa 125, which has 5CV and its speed is 75 km / h.
